Can beach (the propeller and rudder are protected by 2 keels), go into very shallow waters (35 cm draught), immediately go backwards by retropedalling, manoeuvring, agile, turns on the spot.
Can possibly accommodate an additional light passenger, less than 60 kg.
Stable and unsinkable. Very good behaviour at sea. Silent.
Comfortable with its ergonomic backrest.
Storage compartments for GPS, bottle and cans, pockets, front and rear storage bins.
Accessible to disabled people.
Rigged with a sail, it sails under all wind conditions, including upwind, thanks to its keels.
In PEDAYAK TRIO, DUO or PRAO versions, it can be mounted in trimaran or catamaran, with an intermediate removable structure, allowing sunbathing, taking children, or bringing diving or bivouac equipment, etc.

Entry for Fishing, Triken by BIG MAMA KAYAK

A project started in May 2019, strongly supported by Luigi Bottini, owner of Big Mama Kayak, and Claudio Campioni, our designer who took care of all the aesthetic and technical aspects.

« We strongly believe in the made in Italy product and with Triken we have reached the number of 5 molds that allows us to produce the most successful models of our range in Italy. »

A pedal model with propeller system.

« Why a propeller? Why not fins? Because the propeller allows you to go both forward and backward, moreover the propeller speed is greater than the fins making the pedaling movement mentally more natural for the user.

A 405 cm long kayak with a « trimaran » keel and a very « sharp » bow to maximize sailing speed.

« We have thought of an extremely stable product, with a length / width ratio that would guarantee the user the possibility of standing safely and using a very reliable kayak, thanks to the TRIKEN hull which – mind you – is not alone. the name of the kayak, but the name we wanted to give to this particular shape of the hull. »

Maximum « ALL INCLUSIVE » equipment

« The Triken is delivered with 4 internal rod holders and 2 adjustable rod holders. Watertight front compartment, with the possibility of transforming into a livewell that can contain up to 16 liters of water with the optional possibility of adding the pump for oxygenating the water. »

Aluminum seat with adjustable backrest, mounted on sliding sleds for adaptation to different heights and adjustable footrests that allow you to move the person’s center of gravity.

(Thanks to the supplied footrests, the Triken offers the possibility of using the kayak with a paddle, without mounting the pedal system)

Installation of the « PLUG & PLAY » pedals, they can be assembled and disassembled in a few seconds.

« On the Triken we thought about the user who will go out with the kayak for hours and hours, a user who needs space to store objects that are also within reach, for this reason there are 2 side storage compartments and an easily accessible rear tub carrying the arm behind your back. In addition, the rear storage compartment, very large, allows the housing for the transport wheels supplied. »

Vertical rudder with large blade. which guarantees a lot of grip on the water flow, manageable with the left side control.

Paddle holder and rod holders on both right and left side.

5 handles to facilitate lifting of the pedal system with multiplier (each 360 ° pedaling revolution corresponds to 10 propeller turns)

On the Triken there are 58 brass bushings drowned in polyethylene, with a drag resistance of 200 kg each, all the bolts are in stainless steel.

INDUSTRY NEWS: Baxter Sets the Bar High on Opening Day of ICF SUP World Championships

September 9th, 2021 Posted by Uncategorized 0 comments on “INDUSTRY NEWS: Baxter Sets the Bar High on Opening Day of ICF SUP World Championships”

American Connor Baxter set fastest times in both the technical and the sprint disciplines as the 2021 ICF Stand Up Paddling World Championships got underway in Hungary on Thursday.

The scene is set for thrilling finales in both events after tight racing on the opening day of competition in Balatonfured, but it was the American 2019 sprint champion who was the stand-out performer.

Baxter, who broke a SUP sprint world record at the 2019 ICF world championships, showed he had benefitted from some time away from the sport by posting the quickest time in the men’s technical and sprint quarter finals.

Baxter recorded a time of 5.05:18 in the technical, ahead of Peru’s Itzel Delgado in 5.07:05, and 51.46 seconds in his sprint quarter final.

“It gave me a lot of rest physically and mentally, I’ve been doing this for 12 years now so the motivation has been up and down,” Baxter said.

“The vibe is in here, the fire is lit up high, I’m proud to be representing the USA. I’ll be going for gold, but I’m also here to be having some fun.”

Baxter’s biggest challenge in the sprint may come from New Caledonia’s Noic Garioud, who was comfortably leading his quarter final before falling from his board near the finish. However he was able to climb back on and still managed to cross the line in second.

Spain’s Esperanza Barreras posted the fastest time in the women ‘s technical race quarter finals, but has the American duo of April Zilg and Fiona Wylde breathing down her neck. The Spaniard finished the course in 5.45:47, with Zilg winning her quarter final in 5.47:88.

“I’m feeling more comfortable with every race, and I’m feeling more comfortable with the course,” Barreras said.

“The field is really really strong, so I think there could be a lot of surprises at the end. This place is incredible, the organisation is really professional, so I’m really happy to  be here.

“This type of event with more than 500 paddlers, it has not been normal for two years so we were all really nervous at the beginning, my stomach was so tight for the first heat. But we are all so happy to be here and enjoying being with everyone again.”

Russia’s Elena Prokhorova in a time of 1.05:42 recorded the fastest time in the women’s sprint quarter finals.

Friday will see finals in the men’s and women’s distance races.

INDUSTRY NEWS: Largest Ever SUP World Championships Starting in Hungary

September 8th, 2021 Posted by Uncategorized 0 comments on “INDUSTRY NEWS: Largest Ever SUP World Championships Starting in Hungary”

The largest stand up paddling world championships ever held gets underway in Hungary on Thursday, with more than 480 athletes from 50 countries set to compete in the International Canoe Federation titles in Balatonfured.

2019 world champions Michael Booth from Australia and American Connor Baxter will be back to defend their titles on Eastern Europe’s biggest inland lake, with the forecast of perfect racing weather. A large crowd is expected at the lake venue to cheer on Hungarian brothers Bruno and Daniel Hasulyo, silver and bronze medalists behind Booth in the men’s long distance race in Qingdao in 2019. Baxter set a world record in winning 200 metre sprint gold in China, and is expected to once again face a strong challenge from Italian silver medalist, Claudio Nika.

“I see him training a lot, but I am doing the same,” Nika said.

“Maybe we will have a good surprise this year. The atmosphere is super, the athletes are super excited, I really can’t wait to race the other guys and push the limits.

“We had a year of no competitions and it’s been hard to get the motivation back, but now it starts again and we are ready here to make it happen again.”

American Fiona Wylde will be looking to win her first ICF gold medal after winning bronze in the women’s sprint and technical races in Qingdao. Covid travel restrictions have prevented several Oceania athletes from travelling to Hungary, however ICF SUP co-ordinator Hoichan Kwon said the response from the SUP community to the world championships has been overwhelming.

“With all the uncertainty of the past 18 months we really had some nervous moments about hosting this year’s world championships,” Kwon said.

“But our Hungarian hosts have worked extremely hard to help make this event happen, and the athletes have responded.

“To have more than 480 athletes from 50 countries lining up on the start line is just phenomenal. Even though Covid has robbed us of a handful of world-class athletes, the quality of the start list this week is really impressive.”

Competition begins on Lake Balaton on Thursday with heats in the SUP technical and sprint races. The first medals will be decided on Friday with men’s, women’s, masters and junior long distance races.

The world championships will be streamed live on the canoeicf website and Planet Canoe youtube page from Friday. More details of the world championships can be found here.
