As other areas shut down beaches to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, San Clemente became a go-to place for armies looking to enjoy the coast.
That’s just one of the above reasons the city decided to shut down its seas, effective April 8, along with its favourite ocean-front trail and the routes along Sea Summit on the north end of city, the city’s announcement said.
” The information that every coast in LA and San Diego been closed down , the time has now come given the critical mood in the next few weeks, as well as the incoming neat condition, it was time to act and take a proactive approach ,” Public Piece Director Tom Bonigut said.
State Parks on Tuesday announced the closure of San Onofre State Beaches, including favourite surf place Lower Trestles, but had not yet shut down San Clemente State Beaches. Bonigut said he’s been coordinating with officials to let them know the city’s plan.
” I expect that those will happen shortly, we’ve been is compatible with them and they’ve been looking to us ,” he said.” I can’t speak for them, but we let them know our proposes and we stay in touch .”
The city alert of the close noted that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order grants outdoor undertaking” as long as a safe social distance of six-feet is maintained from people who are not part of the same household .”
” Although many of our citizens are self-regulating and rehearsing social distancing, the rise in the number of people gathering on San Clemente coasts has created more an important opportunity to parish spread of the virus ,” the proclamation said.” Closing these areas is prudent to reduce the potential spread of the virus and protect the public .”

Officials said the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Marine Safety, Code Enforcement and Park Rangers will increase monitoring and people who do not comply could be cited.
Bonigut said the city has received a lot of community feedback asking the city to shape the closure, but he knows there will be some people who disagree with the closure.
” We’re publicize on the side of precaution ,” he said,” in trying to help in any way possible, to get through this epidemic sooner than last-minute .”
