Historic documentary meets live concert performance as “Romancing the West” returns to Camino Real Playhouse at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23. Singer/songwriter Christina Lynn Martin and cowboy poet and balladeer Butch Martin co-produced the show and are joined by classic rock performer Martin Gerschwitz (Iron Butterfly, The Animals) in telling the story of over 250 years of the people of the American West through their trials, tribulations and triumphs.
The story of Western Expansionism is told in historic photographs, rare film, video, live poetry and original songs about the West, written by Christina Martin. As the show moves from the Old West into the modern West the music ranges from traditional western, folk/Celtic to jazz, big band and pop/rock.
The show starts at 7 p.m. at 31776 El Camino Real, San Juan Capistrano. Tickets are $30 per person or $40 per person for a cabaret table. Order at caminorealplayhouse.org or call 949-489-8082. For information on the show visit romancingthewest.org.
