Visiting Pure Watersports

Pure Watersports is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closing time can move earlier during winter months, so call (949) 661-4947 to confirm before planning a late afternoon rental.
The Embarcadero lot next to the shop charges $18 for daily parking. The parking structure at Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive is free for the first four hours and is a short walk from the shop, which is the better option for a one or two hour rental.
Reservations are recommended and can be made through the online booking portal or by calling (949) 661-4947. Walk in rentals are often available, but summer weekends and holidays fill quickly, and jet ski availability is the first thing to sell out.
Kayaks, jet skis, and standup paddleboards. Kayak rentals include solo, tandem, and fishing models by the hour or for a full day. Jet ski rentals are Kawasaki models rented by the hour. See current kayak rentals and jet ski rentals.
Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals
Yes. The harbor is protected from open ocean swell and stays relatively calm, and Baby Beach provides an easy sandy launch. Every rental begins with a short safety briefing and basic paddle instruction, so no previous kayaking experience is needed.
Yes. A properly fitted life jacket is included with every kayak, paddleboard, and jet ski rental at no additional charge, along with a paddle and a safety briefing. California law requires children under 13 to wear a life jacket aboard a moving vessel.
Yes. Younger children typically ride in a tandem kayak with an adult steering from the rear seat, which is the most comfortable setup for families. Minimum age requirements vary by equipment, so call ahead to confirm what works for your group.
Yes. Fishing kayaks are outfitted with rod holders and extra storage and are available by the hour or for a full day. Details are on the fishing kayak rentals page.
Yes. Wetsuit rentals are available in both full and spring styles for a small additional charge. Water temperature in the harbor drops noticeably outside of summer, so a wetsuit is worth adding for longer winter and spring sessions.
Jet Ski Rentals
The person holding the reservation must be 18 or older, and anyone operating a jet ski must be 16 or older. Passengers can be any age. If a rider under 18 will be operating the ski, a parent or guardian must be present at the shop.
Yes. A $1,000 security deposit hold per jet ski is placed at onboarding and released at the end of the reservation if no damage is found. The amount is held on a credit card, not charged, unless damage occurs.
A valid photo ID and the physical credit card used to make the reservation, in the reservation holder's name. Photographs or screenshots of a card are not accepted.
Yes. The combined rider weight limit is 300 pounds per jet ski. Groups exceeding that total will need to rent a second ski.
All jet ski rentals must stay within the designated riding area, which covers Dana Point Harbor and the surrounding coastal waters. A map of the riding zone is provided at onboarding and appears on the booking page.
No. Every rental includes a safety briefing before launch, and the protected harbor gives new riders calm water to get comfortable in before heading toward open ocean. Staff walk each renter through operation and the riding zone at onboarding.
Sales, Service, and Policies
Yes. Pure Watersports is Orange County's Hobie dealer on the water, and demos can be arranged at the Dana Point Harbor location. Because the shop launches directly into the harbor, a demo is a real paddle or Mirage Drive pedal session rather than a showroom walkaround. See the Hobie kayak lineup.
Yes. Personal watercraft repair is performed onsite at the Dana Point Harbor location.
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the reservation time receive a full refund. Ocean and weather conditions in Dana Point can change quickly, so call the shop at (949) 661-4947 if conditions look questionable on the day of your rental.
